📜 Reference legal text — Legislación consolidada. Article 64
- The number of points initially assigned to the holder of a driving permit or license will be reduced for each final administrative sanction imposed for the commission of serious or very serious infractions that entail the loss of points, in accordance with the scale established in Annexes II and IV.
- When the Administration notifies the resolution sanctioning an infraction that entails the loss of points, it will expressly indicate the number of points that are deducted and the express way to find out the point balance.
- The partial or total loss, as well as the recovery of assigned points, will affect the driving permit or license, regardless of its class.
- Drivers will not lose more than eight points for accumulating infractions in a single day, unless one of the very serious infractions referred to in paragraphs a), c), d), e), f), g), h) and i) of article 77 occurs, in which case they will lose the total number of points to which they correspond.
- When a driver is sanctioned administratively for committing any of the serious or very serious infractions listed in Annexes II and IV, the points to be deducted from the credit on their driving licence will be automatically deducted when the aforementioned infraction is entered into the register of drivers and offenders held by the Autonomous Body Central Traffic Headquarters, with the total points credit held by the licence holder recorded in said register. After one year has passed since the sanction became final and the underlying infraction has not been recorded, no points will be deducted.
- Seniority remains with subsequent driving licenses or permits obtained as a result of the complete expiration of the points initially assigned to each holder.
