📜 Reference legal text — Legislación consolidada. Article 63
- The holder of a driving permit or license will be assigned an initial credit of twelve points.
- Exceptionally, an initial credit of eight points will be assigned in the following cases:
- Holder of a driving permit or license for no more than three years, unless he or she has already held another driving permit for that length of time.
- Holder of a driving permit or license who, after losing his or her total allocation of points, has obtained the driving permit or license again.
- The points credit is unique for all administrative authorizations held by the driver.
- Those who maintain their full points because they have not been sanctioned administratively for committing infractions will receive a bonus of two points for the first three years and one point for the following three, and may accumulate up to a maximum of fifteen points instead of the initial twelve.
- Passing the safe and efficient driving courses referred to in Annex VIII, provided that the established requirements are met and the balance is positive, will be compensated with two additional points up to a maximum of fifteen points and with a maximum frequency of one course of each type every two years.
