Lighting and visibility systems on mopeds and quadricycles are essential for road safety. These elements allow you to see, be seen, and warn other road users. 🌙🚦
1️⃣ Devices that indicate the vehicle’s presence
- 💡 Position lights: Indicate the vehicle’s presence and width. Front (white), rear (red).
- 💡 Retroreflectors: Reflectors without their own light. Installed at the front, rear, on pedals, and on the sides.

2️⃣ Headlights
🌕 2.1 Low beam (dipped headlights)
Illuminates without dazzling. Mandatory from dusk to dawn, in tunnels, and in low-visibility conditions.
🌌 2.2 High beam (full beam)
Long-range illumination. Allowed outside built-up areas if speed exceeds 40 km/h and it does not dazzle others.
🌫️ 2.3 Fog lights
- 🚘 Front: White or yellow. Optional.
- 🔴 Rear: Red. Optional; use only in dense fog or heavy rain.
3️⃣ Light-based warnings 🚨
- 🔁 Turn signals: Indicate turns or lane changes.
- ⚠️ Hazard lights: All indicators flash to signal a stop or breakdown.
- 🛑 Brake light: Shows that you are braking.
- 🔙 Reverse light: White. Indicates the intention to move backward.
4️⃣ Special situations
🚘 Vehicles must use at least low beam on reversible lanes, additional lanes, or lanes temporarily opened in the opposite direction.
5️⃣ Avoiding glare 😵💫
- 👁️ Switch to low beam when you see an oncoming vehicle.
- 🚷 Do not use dark glasses as a substitute for proper lighting.
6️⃣ Visibility and preventive safety elements
🪞 6.1 Rear-view mirrors
- 🛵 Two-wheeled mopeds: 1 on the left side.
- 🚗 Quadricycles without bodywork: 1 on each side.
- 🚙 Quadricycles with bodywork: 1 interior mirror + 1 exterior left mirror (or two exterior mirrors if rear visibility is insufficient).

They must be kept clean and free of stickers that obstruct visibility. 🌤️
