Understanding this section well helps you answer the theory-exam questions on this topic with confidence.
In practice, this comes down to the following:
- Two-wheeled vehicle, with a maximum construction speed not exceeding 45 km/h and with an engine cylinder capacity less than or equal to 50 cm³, if it is an internal combustion engine, or with a maximum continuous…
- Three-wheeled vehicle, with a maximum construction speed not exceeding 45 km/h and with an engine with a cylinder capacity less than or equal to 50 cm³ for positive spark ignition engines, or with a maximum net power…
- Four-wheeled vehicles, whose unladen mass is less than or equal to 350 kilograms, not including the mass of batteries for electric vehicles, whose maximum design speed is less than or equal to 45 km/h, and whose engine…
In short, the rule makes sure every road user knows what to expect in this situation.
The exam often asks where and to whom these rules apply; read the options carefully, as they frequently change a single word.
