🔍 2. Periodic Technical Inspections (ITV)
🛠️ Good vehicle maintenance helps prevent accidents. The authorities require vehicles to undergo periodic inspections at ITV stations to ensure road safety.

📋 2.1 Inspection result
✅ Favorable
➡️ It is recorded on the ITV card and a visible sticker is issued for the vehicle. Validity starts from the day of the inspection.
⚠️ Unfavorable
🔧 Less than 2 months are granted to correct serious defects. The ITV card is retained and a receipt is issued.
📆 If the defects are not corrected within the period, a full inspection must be carried out again.
🚫 If there are very serious deficiencies, the vehicle may not be driven and must be transported by other means.
📉 2.2 Failure to comply with inspections
📂 Inspection data are recorded in the DGT’s Vehicle Register.
📅 Owners are responsible for meeting inspection deadlines. If they do not:
- 📄 The registration certificate is seized
- 🕙 A certificate is issued granting 10 days to pass the ITV
- 🔐 If the vehicle is not presented, it will be sealed/impounded
🚗 Any vehicle that has suffered significant damage affecting its safety must also undergo inspection.
