Manoeuvres are tested with practical cases; remember the correct order: observe, signal and only then carry out the manoeuvre.
When overtaking pedestrians, animals, animal-drawn vehicles, mopeds, personal mobility vehicles, cyclists or groups of cyclists, the overtaking driver must take special care with the manoeuvre in order to avoid creating any dangerous situation for them.
The driver of a vehicle intending to overtake in the cases provided for in the previous paragraph must do so by occupying part or all of the adjacent or, where applicable, opposite lane of the roadway, keeping a safety width of at least 1.5 metres, except where the roadway has more than one lane per direction, in which case a complete lane change is compulsory. It is prohibited to overtake in a way that endangers or hinders those travelling in the opposite direction, even if they are on the hard shoulder.
In addition, if the overtaking takes place outside built-up areas, before starting the manoeuvre and throughout its execution the overtaking driver must reduce their speed by at least 20 km/h with respect to the speed limit on the road, in order to ensure that the stability and safety of the road users being overtaken are not compromised.
When cyclists ride in a group, they shall be considered a single moving unit.
